Mhuri Farming

Mhuri Farming is based in Zimbabwe in Mashonaland West Province, Karoi, Kasimure in Hurungwe district. Specialising in tobacco seedling growing, the enterprise nevertheless is home to the large scale production of onions for the export market, and cabbages for the local market. This farming season, Mhuri proposes to add large scale maize production to its books.

Mhuri Farming intends to grow the district, the nation through agricultural revenue. The end point being to return Zimbabwe to its status as the ‘bread basket of Africa.’

Virginia Flue-Cured Tobacco KRK26R

Mhuri Farming is one of the largest seedling growers, growing the highly recommended variety, the Virginia Flue-Cured tobacco KRK26r. Virginia, or flue-cured tobacco, is also known as ‘bright tobacco’ because of the golden-yellow to deep-orange color it takes on during curing. This variety can adapt to most tobacco growing areas in Zimbabwe.

KRK 26Rr is a slow growing cultivar that does well even under relatively low moisture levels

This is still the most popular variety. It is highly drought resistant, impervious to Bacterial Wilt and moderately resistant to Black Shank
